Voting on propositions puts real power in your hands to help shape our community. California, the Bay Area, and San Francisco all let people vote directly on certain laws and policies, instead of leaving every decision to elected officials. That's why propositions show up on your ballot, along with candidates.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political nonprofit that has empowered voters and defended democracy for over 100 years. While we don't support candidates or political parties, we are political and take positions on issues important in our community. 

The proposition summaries in our Pros & Cons Guides are unbiased by design. Use them to understand each proposition so you can make your own decision and vote!

We're nonpartisan, which means we don't support or oppose any political parties or candidates.
