Our committees are responsible for the success of the League of Women Voters of San Francisco. We encourage all members to join at least one committee to become involved in our vital work. Advocacy Committee

  • Develops positions on ballot measures
  • Works with coalitions on League of Women Voters of San Francisco areas of focus in order to: motivate action and influence public and political opinion to affect change
  • Mobilizes members to take action on League Positions
  • Assesses and updates local League positions with the membership

The Membership Committee organizes member events:

  • Holiday Party
  • Program Planning
  • Wine and Cheese
  • August Tea
  • Pre-Election Breakfast

Other Membership Committee activities include:

  • Directing recruitment initiatives
  • Managing member engagement
  • Hosting other fun, quality events such as Happy Hours and Membership dinners

Communications Committee

  • Provides up-to-date information regarding issues of government and public policy as it relates to the League of Women Voters of San Francisco
  • Communicates and promotes member events, advocacy opportunities, hot topic issues, and development campaigns
  • Creates a community and gets people to participate in League of Women Voters of San Francisco activities, either online or in person

Development Committee

Raises money from a combination of:

  • Memberships 
  • Donations 
  • Grants 
  • Events such as happy hours and guest bartending 
  • Election services such as Speakers Bureau 
  • Registering people to vote at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
  • Bequests and charitable trusts

Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for organizing programs and initiatives on the non-election related local issues that the League of Women Voters of San Francisco's members chose to focus on each year. The Education Committee also works on supporting state and national studies.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is responsible for identifying and recommending League members for leadership positions within the organization. Members of the Nominating Committee serve a 1 year term.
