Committees

Our committees are how we organize toward success. Committees are made up of members and volunteers, and we encourage new members to join a committee to get connected to our work. If you're thinking about joining a committee, send them an email or come to an event to learn more.

Voter Services Committee

The Voter Services Committee manages our voter education programs. This includes our Pros & Cons Guide and discussions, candidate statements, Candidate Forums, Voter’s Edge—and of course, our voter registration activities.

Advocacy Committee

The Advocacy Committee develops our positions on ballot measures. It works with coalitions and partners in LWVSF's areas of focus to motivate action and influence public and political opinion to affect change. It also mobilizes members to take action on League positions, and assesses and updates local League positions with the membership.

Meetings: 2nd Tuesday of the month, 6 pm

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee manages and builds member engagement. They achieve this by directing our member recruitment, organizing member-only events with speakers on important issues, and hosting just-for-fun events like happy hours and our holiday party. The Committee also supports our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee keeps our members, supporters, partners, and San Franciscans up to date on civic engagement opportunities, local elections, and government and public policy issues. The Committee promotes our events, advocacy actions, and development campaigns. It fosters community connection and encourages people to get involved in making democracy work.

Education Committee

The Education Committee organizes programs and initiatives on the non-election related local areas that LWVSF's members chose to focus on each year. It also works on supporting state and national studies.

Development Committee

The Development Committee raises money from a combination of donations, grants, bequests and charitable trusts, memberships, events such as our guest bartending happy hours, community services such as speakers bureau.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee identifies and recommends LWVSF members for leadership positions within the organization. Committee members serve a one-year term.

The Budget Committee prepares our annual budget and reviewing proposed amendments. Committee members serve a one-year term.
