This privacy policy explains the types of information collected by LWVSF’s website, lwvsf.org, and how this information is used. We may modify this privacy policy from time to time. We will post the modified policy on our website. The date of the latest revision is at the bottom of this policy.

What information we collect
At times, we may ask you to provide personal information to sign up for emails, register for an event, become a member, make a donation, fill out a form, or do another type of activity. We may ask for your name, street address, city, state, zip code, phone number, email address, billing and payment details, supervisor district you live in, and voter registration status. We may also ask members to provide additional personal information in their member application and member surveys. Member surveys are optional and reported in aggregate.
When you visit LWVSF’s website, your browser may automatically send an Internet Protocol (IP) address and other user information, such as the browser you use. LWVSF’s website may use “cookies,” which are small files of data stored on your device that allows your browser to store and recall information about the website.
How your information is used
When you provide personal information to LWVSF, we keep it for our records and use it to provide and improve our programs and services unless and until you ask us to delete the information. We use IP addresses, cookies, and other website user information to manage our website.
LWVSF may also use your personal information to send you communications. These communications include news about the issues we work on, event invitations, and donation tax receipts. We send these communications only to members, volunteers, donors, and other people who opt-in to receive them, or when required by law or regulation. LWVSF sends communications to elected officials, government agencies and their employees, and members of commissions, boards, and other public bodies in order to conduct our work.
LWVSF member names, mailing address, phone numbers, email addresses, and membership details are shared with the League of Women Voters of the Bay Area, the League of Women Voters of California, and the League of Women Voters of the U.S. because LWVSF members also become members of those Leagues. We may store or share your information with third party vendors who use your information to perform certain tasks. For example, we use MailChimp to send our newsletters. These vendors have their own privacy policies and process your information only on LWVSF’s behalf.

We will not rent, sell, or trade your personal information with other third parties.
We protect your information
LWVSF takes every precaution available to us to protect our website users’ information. When users submit personal information via the LWVSF website, their information is protected both online and off-line. Our website uses an encryption technology called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect your personal information during data transport. Keep in mind that transmitting data online is never completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its security.
We protect children’s privacy
We do not and will not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 13. It remains possible, however, that we may receive information given to us by or pertaining to children under 13. If we are notified of this, as soon as we verify the information, we will promptly either obtain parental consent or delete the information.

LWVSF welcomes and encourages public participation in our social media channels, discussion boards, video platforms, certain events (some events are for members and donors only), and other community programs and activities.
